Bruce County is helping out the Municipality of Brockton with rising court security costs.
Court security and prisoner transfer costs provided by the OPP have nearly doubled in the past year according to Brockton Mayor, Chris Peabody.
The court costs have risen from $150,000 last year, to $250,000 this year.
To help cover the rising costs Bruce County has agreed to split the bill with Brockton to the tune of $125,000.
Both Huron and Grey Counties recently agreed to do the same for the municipalities that host their court buildings in Goderich and Owen Sound.
Brockton says they welcome the help, but a larger conversation between the province, municipalities, and OPP, must be had to try and contain court security costs across the province.
