Break-and-enter suspect caught by Sarnia police K9

Sarnia police K9 Vader has caught a break-and-enter suspect over the weekend.

On Sunday just before 9 a.m., the Sarnia Police Service were called to a break-and-enter in progress in the 1400 block of Churchill Line.

When officers arrived on scene and found a male suspect inside the fence allegedly trying to steal copper wire. The man was confronted by police and ran northbound across Plank Road.

A containment perimeter was set up and Const. Urban and K9 Vader tracked the suspect. In less than 10 minutes, Vader found the suspect hiding in tall brush behind a building on Plank Road.

The 28-year-old man of Sarnia was searched, and police seized a concealed knife and several break-in tools. He is now facing charges for break-and-enter, possession of break-and-enter instruments, possession of stolen property under $5,000, and carrying a concealed weapon.
