Woman tries to steal $2,300 worth of products from Guelph business, throws drink at employee: police

A woman has been charged with robbery after employees at a Guelph business said she tried to steal thousands of dollars worth of products.

Guelph Police Service officers were called to a store on Silvercreek Parkway North on Tuesday around 11 p.m. They were told an aggressive woman had filled a cart with $2,800 worth of products and was drinking a beverage she hadn’t paid for.

When an employee approached the woman about the drink, they said she became belligerent. The employee told police the woman tried to leave the store with the full cart and when a worker tried to intervene, the woman threw the drink at them.

Police arrived a short time later and arrested the woman. They discovered she is currently scheduled to appear in court for two similar incidents that happened over the Christmas holidays.

A 39-year-old Guelph woman has been charged with robbery.
