Thieves target Toyotas in Guelph

Guelph Police say Toyotas were a “hot commodity for car thieves” over the weekend.

At least four separate incidents are being investigated.

The first was reported on Saturday morning. The victim said his 2023 Toyota Tundra was taken from his driveway on Victoria Road North. Only broken glass was left behind.

Police said the vehicle was later discovered abandoned near Downey Road and Ptarmigan Drive.

That same morning, the owner of a black 2024 Tundra discovered broken glass where his vehicle had been parked in the lot of a south-end hotel.

A third theft was reported a short time later. Police were told a silver 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander was taken from another hotel parking lot, this time in the north-end of the city.

The fourth and final incident was on Sunday. The owner of a 2024 Lexus SUV said her vehicle was taken from a parkade in downtown Guelph sometime during the day. Again, broken glass littered the ground where the SUV had been parked.

Police do not know if any of the thefts are connected.
