Police say Guelph man’s vehicle seized ‘indefinitely’

A Guelph man will have to find another way to get around after his vehicle was seized “indefinitely.”

The Guelph Police Service said the 64-year-old was caught driving, while suspended, twice in four days.

The latest incident happened around 3:15 p.m. Thursday.

Police said an officer was on patrol downtown when his automated licence plate reader (ALPR) alerted him to a vehicle associated with a suspended driver.

Once his identity was confirmed, the 64-year-old was arrested and charged with driving while suspended and driving without insurance.

“While he was being searched, the officer located two summons issued four days earlier by another police service for the same offences,” police said in a media release. “To prevent continuation of the offences the vehicle was seized under the Highway Traffic Act.”
