Panhandler pulls knife on manager of Guelph business

A man has been charged after police said he threatened the manager of a Guelph business with a knife.

Guelph Policer Service officers were called to a business near Stone Road West and Edinburgh Road South around 11 a.m. Tuesday. The manager told police they had received several complaints about a man approaching people in the drive-thru and aggressively asking for money. The manager said when he asked the man to leave, the man pulled out a large knife and pointed it at the manager in a threatening way.

Officers located the suspect nearby and found a knife in his jacket pocket.

A 42-year-old Guelph man has been charged with assault with a weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, breaching a probation order, failing to leave when directed and soliciting in an aggressive manner.
