Oxford County teen charged for hit and run with Guelph city bus

A teenager from Oxford County has been charged after leaving the site of a head-on crash involving a Guelph city bus.

Officers with the Guelph Police Service were called to Ironwood Road near Cole Road just before 9 p.m., Thursday night. When they arrived, they found the bus with significant front-end damage.

The driver told police they were travelling southbound on Ironwood Road when a blue Ram pickup crossed into their lane and hit the front of the bus.

They said the driver of the truck reversed and took off.

During the investigation, officers stopped another Ram pickup and discovered one of the passengers had been the driver involved in the collision. He took officers to the rear of a nearby business where they found a damaged truck.

An 18-year-old from Oxford County has been charged with failing to stop after a collision.
