Guelph boy arrested following stolen vehicle investigation

A boy from Guelph has been arrested after police say a vehicle was stolen from a family friend and later involved in a crash.

A woman reported her Dodge Caravan had been stolen overnight from her east-end home on Jan. 21. She told police her friend’s son, who had been staying over, was not in the house when she woke up.

Shortly after, police say the victim was contacted by another police service, who told her that her vehicle had been involved in a hit-and-run collision with another stolen vehicle.

Damage from the crash was estimated at more than $10,000.

A 12-year-old boy from Guelph stopped by the city’s police station with a parent on Monday. He was arrested for theft of a motor vehicle.
