A Guelph man is facing weapons and other charges after he was arrested Saturday in downtown Guelph.
Police said they were investigating a possible robbery on Quebec Street at approximately 2:15 p.m., in which a man said he was beaten up and had his phone stolen.
Officers were then confronted by another man, who was upset they were speaking to potential witnesses.
An investigation revealed that the second man was involved in the original incident and he was subsequently arrested.
Police said a search revealed a collapsible baton in his waistband and suspected morphine.
“A 24-year-old Guelph man is charged with carrying a concealed weapon, three counts of possessing a weapon while prohibited, possessing a controlled substance, obstructing police and two counts of breaching court orders,” police said in a media release.
