Video shows three people running alongside GO train in Kitchener, Ont.

Metrolinx has put out a warning after three people crossed in front of a GO train in Kitchener, Ont.

Metrolinx, the company behind GO Transit, is out with a warning about the dangers of walking near train tracks.

Michael Lindsay, the CEO of Metrolinx, shared a video on LinkedIn earlier this week. It shows three people running along a narrow strip of space between a fence and the tracks as a GO train approaches.

Metrolinx told CTV News the incident happened on the Grand River Bridge, around 4 p.m. on June 13, while the train was travelling from Kitchener, Ont., to Toronto’s Union Station. They said the train operator used the emergency brake after seeing the trio cross the track directly in front of the train.

No one was hurt.

“This incident is a stark reminder: railway tracks and bridges are never safe places to walk and are illegal and considered trespassing,” an email from Metrolinx media relations said.

Lindsay encouraged anyone with more information on the incident to contact the Waterloo Regional Police Service.
