Things to do in Waterloo Region and Guelph over March break

March break is upon us and many families are looking for ways to keep their kids engaged and entertained during their time off from school.

Here are some of the events happening around Waterloo Region and Guelph.

Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory

The Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory invites families to get a taste of warmer weather while walking amongst thousands of Blue Morpho Butterflies. The conservatory will open for extended hours during March break.

Drayton Entertainment

Drayton Entertainment will be hosting comedy juggling shows to kick off March break. The first shows will be on Sunday at the Drayton Festival Theatre, the second set of performances will be on Monday at the St. Jacobs Country Playhouse, and then the tour wraps up at the Hamilton Family Theatre on Tuesday.

Kitchener Rangers Downtown Showdown

Fans of the Kitchener Rangers can take part in a brand new event in at Carl Zehr Square in downtown Kitchener. The city is partnering with the team for the ‘Downtown Showdown’ on March 11 from noon until 4 p.m. The event will feature a 3-on-3 game, skills competition, a live DJ and free games. The Rangers will also host an autograph session.

KW Titans

The KW Titans are hosting a special game day at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium on March 12. Fans who buy a full-price adult ticket will also be able to redeem a free youth ticket for the game against the Sudbury Five. Game starts at 7 p.m.

Kitchener Public Library

The Kitchener Public Library has put together a wide range of free events over the March break, including a ‘Digital Colouring Extravaganza’ and ‘STEM Fun with ESQ.’ Some events require pre-registration.

Waterloo Public Library

The Waterloo Public Library is also hosting many events over the March break, including ‘Family Feud: WPL Edition’ and a day all about dinosaurs. Some events require pre-registration.

Cambridge Public Library

Free events will be held at libraries and galleries throughout Cambridge all week long. Some of the highlights include The Yuck Lab in Preston, Board Game Adventures at the Old Post Office, and a Halloween celebration at Clemens Mill. Some events require pre-registration.

Guelph Public Library

From magic shows to live birds-of-prey demonstrations, the Guelph Public Library is also offering a variety of free events. Some events require pre-registration.

IRL Festival

A celebration of Irish Culture will be happening all week long at the IRL Festival. The not-for-profit festival showcases the rich history of Ireland and gives people a chance to experience iconic traditions first-hand. Some of the events include a free Irish Sing Along and Ukelele Jam with Green Gables Music on Wednesday at the Registry Theatre in Kitchener, and a pay-what-you-can Irish dancing event where participants will be taught the Irish jig. Some events require pre-registration.
