Snow warnings and parking bans continue in southern Ontario

Climatologist David Phillips says the period of snow is expected to continue tonight, but temperatures will increase tomorrow.

Environment Canada says communities in southwestern Ontario could see more snow by Monday.

A snow squall warning was issued Sunday for Stratford, St. Marys, Listowel, London, Grand Bend, Goderich and as far north as Saugeen Shores.

The agency said those areas could get up to 10 cm of snow before squalls weakened on Monday morning.

Until then, drivers were warned to go slow on the roads due to the blowing snow.

Environment Canada said strong winds were also a concern in eastern Norfolk and Haldimand County. Gusts were expected to reach 80 km/h, and up to 90 km/h, before easing on Sunday evening. The forecaster warned it could cause damage to roofs, fences or branches.

All weather warnings for Waterloo Region and Wellington County, as well as western Norfolk and Haldimand, ended on Sunday afternoon.

Parking bans in effect

Waterloo and Kitchener have both extended their parking bans into Monday.

Waterloo’s ends at noon and Kitchener’s at 3 p.m.

Cambridge’s snow event continues until 11:59 p.m. Sunday.

Drivers are asked to not park on city streets during this time so plows can clear the snow.

Any vehicles left on the road could be ticketed or towed at the owner’s expense.
