A robbery, involving a suspect cutting a hole in the roof and lowering themselves down on a rope, sounds like something out of a movie but it happened at a Guelph business on Monday morning.

Guelph Police were called to the Woodlawn Road West and Nicklin Road area at around 5:50 a.m. after a man entered an unnamed business.

They said he stacked items against the outside wall and climbing onto the roof using an emergency ladder.

The man then cut a hole in the ceiling, lowered himself inside using a rope and stole an unspecified amount of cigarettes.

The man is described as white, approximately six-feet-tall and a heavy build. He had shaggy hair, wore glasses and was last seen wearing a puffy mid-length winter jacket, a hoodie, Nike shoes and pants that may have said ‘Deadpool’ down the leg.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Constable Caitlin Robinson at 519-824-1212, ext. 7604 or email her at crobinson@guelphpolice.ca.
