Man charged after allegedly threatening others with knife in Waterloo

Waterloo Regional Police have charged a 30-year-old man following a dispute at a residence in Waterloo.

Police said officers were called to the area of University Avenue East and Marshall Street around 2:50 p.m. Saturday.

Investigators alleged that when officers arrived, a man brandished a knife and made threats toward another individual and police.

“At approximately 7 p.m., the male was safely taken into custody by WRPS’ Emergency Response Team without incident,” police said in a media release.

The accused faces charges including assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
