Around 40 firefighters from four different fire departments worked to put out a large fire at a chicken barn just northwest of Moorefield, Ont. Tuesday morning.
Deputy Fire Chief with the Minto Fire Department, Callise Loos, told CTV News in an email that firefighters were called to a 200-foot-long barn on Concession Road 8 between Side Road 6 and Robb Street around 10:30 a.m.
“The call came in from a passerby who stopped at the location and noticed flames coming from the side of the barn,” Loos said in an email. “There was smoke and flame visible on arrival.”

Loos said the first arriving crews made an aggressive attack to knock down the fire. An excavator arrived on scene to demolish the barn and extinguish hotspots.
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time and is not considered suspicious.
There is no estimated cost in damages but according to Loos, the barn will be “a significant loss.”
Concession Road 8 is closed between Sideroad 6 and Wellington County Road 10.
No injuries have been reported and there is no word on if any animals were hurt.
