A five-month-old kitten is in need of life-saving surgery and the Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo & Stratford Perth is making an urgent appeal to the community.

Hopscotch was found as a stray, struggling to walk due to a severe leg injury. Veterinarians say she needs surgery to stabilize her leg with implants. If the damage is too severe, however, amputation may be necessary to ensure her quality of life.

The cost of Hopscotch’s medical care, including surgery, medication and ongoing treatment, could total more than $5,000.

“Hopscotch has shown so much strength and spirit despite her injury,” said Dr. Meghan Wallace, a veterinarian for the Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo & Stratford Perth. “With this surgery, she can live a full, and pain-free, life. She just needs a little help to get there.”

The organization’s CEO, Victoria Baby, also emphasized the importance of donations.

“Every animal deserves a chance to live a full and happy life, and Hopscotch is no exception.”

Donations can be made online to support Hopscotch’s surgery. Any extra funds raised will go towards the care of other animals in need at the shelter.
