Elderly man targeted in Waterloo distraction theft

Waterloo Regional Police are trying to identify the two people who stole a necklace from an 85-year-old man.

On Monday, around 12:20 pm., a male and female approached the victim in the Costco parking lot along Erb Street West.

“The suspects engaged the victim in conversation, and, during the interaction, the female suspect removed a necklace worn by the victim,” a media release said.

The pair then left the parking lot in a white SUV.

Police said the 85-year-old man was not hurt.
