Driver who fled from hydro pole collision charged

A Guelph man was charged with dangerous driving after his pickup truck crashed into a hydro pole and he fled the scene.

It happened on Janefield Avenue and Torch Lane just before 8 p.m. Friday.

Police said security video from a nearby home showed the white pickup truck travelling at a high rate of speed before the driver lost control, and the pickup crossed a sidewalk and collided with the pole.

The driver was then seen getting into the passenger seat of another vehicle and leaving the area.

The 32-year-old was arrested the next day and charged with dangerous driving and failing to remain at the scene of a collision.
