Driver crashes into another vehicle, faces impaired driving and weapon charges

A driver from Hagersville is facing a long list of charges as part of a collision investigation in Brant County.

Ontario Provincial Police said an officer witnessed the vehicle lose control and swerve off the road after it wase hit by another vehicle at around 10:56 p.m. on March 10.

Police later located the other vehicle involved in the crash. They said the driver was injured and allegedly showed signs of impairment.

Officers also determined the vehicle had been reported as stolen.

The driver was taken to hospital for treatment and was arrested after they were released.

A 31-year-old Hagersville resident has been charged with impaired operation of a vehicle, failure or refusal to comply with a breath demand, dangerous operation, failure to stop after an accident, possession of property obtained by crime, unauthorized possession of a weapon, failure to surrender an insurance card and failure to surrender permit for a vehicle.

Police said the driver only had a G1 class licence and was unaccompanied by a qualified driver.
