Brantford Police arrest Whitby man for alleged intimate partner assault

A man from Whitby is facing a long list of charges, including forcible confinement and assault, after he was arrested in Brantford.

The Brantford Police Service were called to a Rawdon Street home on Sunday around 5 a.m. They were told two people had been arguing, but the argument escalated into physical intimate partner violence.

One person was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A suspect was arrested at a nearby business. During the arrest, officers learned the 42-year-old man from Whitby was wanted by a neighbouring police service for two outstanding warrants.

The man was charged with assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, forcible confinement, intimidation and failure to comply with a release order.
