Elections Ontario revealed how many people voted at advance polls for the provincial election in Waterloo Region and surrounding areas.
Across Ontario, 678,789 people voted during the three days of advance polls from Thursday to Saturday, representing 6.14 per cent of eligible voters.
Here is a look at the number of ballots cast locally:
- Kitchener Centre: 5,598 ballots (6.38 per cent of total registered electors)
- Kitchener—Conestoga: 5,840 ballots ( 7.34 per cent of total registered electors)
- Kitchener South—Hespeler: 4,586 ballots (5.28 per cent of registered electors)
- Cambridge: 4,461 ballots (4.66 per cent of registered electors)
- Guelph: 8,503 ballots (7.38 per cent of registered electors)
- Waterloo: 6,723 ballots (7.14 per cent of registered electors)
- Perth—Wellington: 7,878 ballots (9.53 per cent of registered electors)
- Wellington—Halton Hills: 7,614 ballots (7.21 per cent of registered electors)
According to Elections Ontario, the numbers provided only keep track of ballots cast at advance voting locations in an electoral district. It does not include voters who cast a special ballot at the local election office during the same period.
The 44th general election is Thursday, with polling stations open between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.
