19 charges laid in connection to fraud at Waterloo Region credit unions

An Oxford County man is facing 19 charges in connection with multiple frauds targeting financial institutions in Waterloo Region.

Waterloo Regional Police say the investigation began in June 2025, after a man visited four credit unions in Kitchener and Waterloo and attempted to withdraw funds using fraudulent documents.

Investigators were able to identify the suspect.

A 61-year-old man was arrested and charged with nine counts of identity fraud, nine counts of uttering forged documents and possession of an identity document.
