Wild weather: Deadly flooding, giant hail and tornadoes in Houston

CTV Edmonton's Josh Classen recaps a week of wild weather: deadly flooding in Thailand and Malaysia, tornadoes in Houston, and giant hail in Australia.

Flood in Thailand, Malaysia

Days of heavy rain has led to devastating and deadly flooding in Thailand and Malaysia.

More than 30 people have been confirmed dead and more are missing, while tens of thousands of people have been forced to leave their homes.

Floodwaters over one metre have been reported in some areas after record-setting rainfall in the region.

Emergency crews have been using boats to rescue people stranded on the roofs of their homes.

Tornadoes in Houston

A pair of tornadoes tore through Houston on Monday.

The EF-1 and EF-2 tornadoes damaged more than 100 homes. Roofs were torn off, windows smashed and some garages were moved off their foundations.

The twisters were spawned by severe storms that also produced heavy rain and damaging wind, uprooting trees and downing power lines.

Giant hail in Australia

Severe weather hit Queensland, Australia, producing giant hailstones that were larger than baseballs in some areas.

Damaging wind speeds of up to 100 km/h, combined with the hail, did significant damage to some communities and nearly 100,000 homes were left without power.

Elsewhere in Queensland, a heatwave is been pushing temperatures above 40 C.
