The event was brought to Edmonton by Firefighters Aid Ukraine, an organization dedicated to providing firefighting, medical supplies and gear to first responders in Ukraine.

Kevin Royle, the project director for Firefighter Aid Ukraine, said bringing the exhibit to the city will hopefully raise awareness to the impacts of the near three-year conflict.

“This world is a crazy place right now, with political changes, other conflicts, terrorists … something like this hopefully brings it back to the forefront,” Royle told CTV News Edmonton on Tuesday.

“Just last week, Poltava suffered a missile strike on an apartment building that killed 14 people … this is still happening, and it’s happening to a democratic nation that’s peaceful,” he added. “This war needs to end, and it will end with support and with knowledge and awareness.”

The event is free to attend but guests are encouraged to bring a monetary donation.

Ways of War runs from Wednesday to Saturday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Ukrainian Youth Unity Complex at 9615 153 Ave. NW. It will then head over to MacEwan University’s Fiegel Conference Centre on Feb. 20 for the evening.
