A shelter-in-place order was ordered for part of Whitecourt for several hours on Saturday.
At 5:30 p.m., Mounties said they were investigating a firearms complaint in the area of 56 Avenue and 48 Street. Residents of the area were asked to stay inside, lock their doors and stay away from the windows.
RCMP issued an update at 7:57 p.m. saying a person had been arrested and that the shelter-in-place order had been lifted.
No other details were given about the incident.
Whitecourt is about 160 kilometres northwest of Edmonton.
