Residents near Kehewin Cree Nation, south of Bonnyville, were told to shelter in place early Monday morning as police looked for an armed suspect.

The shelter-in-place order was issued just before 6 a.m. for a part of Township Road 592A, between Highway 657 and Highway 41 (Buffalo Trail), and rescinded shortly before 10 a.m.

Residents were told to stay inside, lock their doors, and stay away from windows.

RCMP did not provide any details about the suspect, why they were wanted, or if they were found when the shelter order was rescinded.

They said another update would be issued later.
