Alberta’s Serious Incident Response Team has been called in to investigate the shooting death of a man Tuesday afternoon in west Edmonton, city police said in a media release.
The incident arose following a call to police early in the afternoon to the area of 163 Street and 97 Avenue after a weapons complaint, saying a 36-year-old man was in the yard of a home and had pointed a firearm at a resident there, police said.
Officers located a man they suspected was responsible near 98 Avenue and 156 Street. One police officer shot the man, who died in hospital after paramedics treated him on the scene then took him there.
No officers were hurt, police said.
