He’s back.
Superstar Connor McDavid will return to the Edmonton Oilers’ lineup Wednesday night.
The captain took warmup about a half-hour prior to the 8 p.m. start of the Oilers’ home game against the St. Louis Blues, an indication he will be suiting up.
McDavid had missed the last eight games with what was believed to be a lower body injury.
The 28-year-old has scored 26 goals and 64 assists for 90 points in 63 games this season.
He last played on March 20 at home in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Winnipeg Jets.
McDavid’s return comes with several top-line Oilers players sidelined by injury, including leading National Hockey League goal-scorer Leon Draisaitl, top-six forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, starting goalie Stuart Skinner, defenceman Mattias Ekholm, and power forwards Trent Frederic and Evander Kane.
Earlier on Wednesday, head coach Kris Knoblauch said that McDavid and his sidelined teammates were considered day-to-day to a week away from being ready, but that he expected them back before the end of the season.
