Man charged with sexually exploiting youth, aggravated assault in east-central Alberta

A Vermilion man is in custody after police in the Alberta town arrested and charged him with sexually exploiting a youth and aggravated assault, among other offences.

Vermilion RCMP, Kitscoty RCMP and Kitscoty’s crime reduction unit used a warrant on Tuesday to search a home in the town of 4,000 that’s 190 kilometres east of Edmonton following two complaints to police in October and November.

Police have charged Justin Reid, 41, with luring a child, sexual exploitation of a young person, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and three counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Reid is slated to appear in a Wainwright court on Thursday.
