Temperatures are expected to stay below -20 C for the fourth consecutive day in Edmonton.
But...we’ll end that streak Thursday.
The average high for early February is -5 C, so we’ve been 15 to 20 degrees colder than average through Sunday-Tuesday and we’ll be in that range again today.
Thursday-Saturday should all be “only” 5 to 10 degrees below average.
So...yes we’ll break out of the deep freeze Thursday. But...it’s still going to be cold for a while.
There’s no sign of temperatures returning to the 0 to -5 C range between now and Feb. 21.
Instead, we’re looking at highs in the -12 to -17 C range for most of the next seven to 10 days.
Precipitation outlook:
We’ll see a pocket of heavier snow over the Hanna/Coronation/Wainwright region and that could produce 5-10 cm of snow.
Elsewhere, just a few light flurries in parts of central Alberta.
Edmonton and area could see a couple snowflakes through the day and then a dusting of snow overnight and early Thursday.
No significant snowfall in the forecast for Edmonton over the next few days, though.
