Cold, cloudy and a few occasional flurries in the Edmonton region through the day today.
We’ll get to a high of -22 C or -23 C and, like yesterday, the wind shouldn’t be much of a factor.
We’re expecting a wind speed around 5 km/h...MAYBE as strong as 10 km/h at times.
Wind becomes a bit more of a factor Wednesday afternoon. It could get up into the 15-20 km/h range...and we’ll still be stuck in the cold air on Wednesday.
I think we’ll get to around -20 C in the afternoon, but it’ll probably FEEL closer to -30 with the wind.
Temperatures start climbing Wednesday night and we’ll be in the -15 C range by Thursday morning and up close to -10 C in the afternoon Thursday.
But...that’s about as warm as it’s going between now and the middle of the month.
Daytime highs are forecast to hover in the -11 C to -16 C from Friday of this week...right through to Friday of next week (Feb 14).
The long-term average highs for that time frame are in the -3 C to -5 C range. So, although this cold spell isn’t RARE for February, we’re definitely WELL below the seasonal averages.
