A 14-day-old baby boy is in serious condition in an Edmonton hospital after a dog attack Sunday west of the city.

RCMP told CTV News Edmonton that officers from nearby Evansburg answered a call about the mauling Sunday morning.

STARS air ambulance said its service was called to the scene and took the boy to the Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton.

Police said a dog lived in the same Entwistle residence as the child and that its owner surrendered it to authorities.

Entwistle is a hamlet 105 kilometres west of Edmonton on Highway 16.
