Ice castle in Ice District expected to open late December

An ice castle in Ice District’s fan park is almost complete.

Ice Castles, the company that builds the attractions in five locations across Canada and the U.S., says it is anticipating a late-December opening in Alberta’s capital city, depending on the weather.

The company uses historical local weather data to plan openings and sell advance tickets, which it started on Tuesday. If weather permits, the castle could open sooner.

The attraction will be open every day except Wednesday.

Ticket holders must arrive within their 30-minute entry time slot, but can stay for as long as they like.

Admission ranges from $15 to $24, and is cheaper during the week.
