Hi-Light Music Festival featuring independent artists starts Wednesday

An annual music festival featuring independent artists begins Wednesday night in Old Strathcona.

The Hi-Light Music Festival returns for its third year of putting the local independent music community in the spotlight.

Whyte Avenue’s Blakbar is the site for the first performances of the five-day festival. The Buckingham will host the festival’s final night of performances on Sunday.

Full festival lineup

  • Wednesday at Blakbar: Jordyn Rayne, Leon’s Getting Larger, Cupid’s Heart and Red Grace. Doors open 7:30 p.m., 10762 Whyte Ave.
  • Thursday at The Dive Bar: Cold Like Penguins, MUNK, Hydracat and Open Eyes. Doors open 7 p.m., 9692 Jasper Ave.
  • Friday at The Aviary: Selfish Bodies, Sam the Living, Shy Friend, Ten02, Lucky Keith. Doors open 7 p.m., 11101 94 St.
  • Saturday at The Aviary: Mya Hill, Von Bieker and his Small-Tones, The Orvald Wayne Show, Jacquie Daniels and the Blank Slates. Doors 2:30 p.m.
  • Saturday at The Aviary: Morning Coyote, Rights To Roam, The Definitive, Fn’A, Lushclot, SILKRØAD. Doors 7 p.m.
  • Sunday at The Buckingham: Wayfinder, The Smelters, Gnostic Fever, Terrible People, Misplaced Intentions. Doors 6 p.m., 10445 82 Ave.
