Police said Boysis tried to escape through a basement window when officers arrived, but was arrested while in possession of a 22-calibre rifle, which is prohibited.

He is subject to multiple lifetime gun prohibitions as a result of previous convictions.

Boysis is a federal parolee and was wanted on a Canada-wide apprehension and suspension warrant.

Boysis has been charged with:

• careless use of a firearm;

• possession of a prohibited device;

• possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized;

• possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition readily accessible;

• uttering threats;

• use of a firearm while committing an indictable offence; and

• seven counts of possession of a prohibited firearm.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 26.

A$AP, which stands for Always Strive and Prosper, is a street gang that is spread across northern and central Alberta correctional institutions.

Police say their activities are connected to drug trafficking, home invasions, robberies, stolen property and they are known to rely on violence.
