Fire destroys small-town restaurant northeast of Edmonton

Lamont County says a fire caused a restaurant's roof to collapse and the building will be a total loss.

A Bruderheim business has been ruled a “total loss” after a fire.

According to Lamont County officials, firefighters were dispatched to the restaurant on Highway 45 on the south edge of the community in the early hours of Wednesday. Crews from multiple stations were called in to assist but they could not prevent the roof collapsing.

As of 7 a.m., no injuries had been reported and it was expected crews would be on scene for a couple more hours.

Bruderheim is located 60 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.
