Edmonton weather: Windy and wet to start the week, warming a bit by Wednesday

Freezing rain alerts were issued for Edmonton and surrounding areas the morning of Dec. 8, 2021.

An area of low pressure in northwest Saskatchewan is spinning some showers (and possibly a bit of mixed precip) back into the Edmonton region from the north.

The precipitation stretches from around the Edmonton area east to Lloydminster and NE through the Fort McMurray area.

The showers will stick around through the morning and then move off to the east midday or early this afternoon.

But, the gusty conditions will persist throughout the daytime and evening hours.

We should get some clearing and calming overnight.

Temperatures are expected to hold steady around 4 or 5 degrees through the afternoon hours.

Sunny, calmer and slightly warmer for Tuesday with a high of 7 or 8 degrees in Edmonton.

Then...highs climb to around 10 degrees for Wed/Thu/Fri.

That’s a long ways off the mid to upper teen temperatures we had last week, but still slightly warmer than average for the end of October.

(average seasonal high is 5 degrees)

Looking LONG range - daytime highs will remain in the 5 to 10 degree range right through the first week of November.
