Edmonton weather: Gusty today, but a mild final weekend in September

Sunny and windy today and seasonal weekend to follow.

Clouds over the Edmonton region early this morning are moving out quickly and we’ll be under sunny skies for most of the day today.

Eastern Alberta will hang on to the clouds through to midday or early this afternoon.

Temperatures should be a couple degree cooler than yesterday. Edmonton hit the low 20s Thursday, but we’ll be in the mid to upper teens for afternoon highs today and this weekend.

We get another shot at climbing into the 20s on Monday.

Wind will kick up across much of the province today. Gusts in the 40-50 km/h range for most of central and northern AB.

In the Edmonton region, we’re expecting those gusts to start around midday and continue through into the early evening hours before tapering off.

As for the weekend - we’ll start Saturday off with some sunshine and then get some increasing cloudcover through the afternoon hours. There’s a slight chance of a shower Saturday night, but it looks like most of that precipitation will be north and west of the city.

Areas from Hinton/Edson up through Whitecourt, Slave Lake and Lac La Biche have the best chance to get some showers or periods of rain late Saturday & Saturday night.

Cloudy with some sunny breaks for Sunday in the Edmonton region and there might be some gusts through the afternoon hours.

Looking LONG Range - After jumping into the low 20s Monday, temperatures will level off through next week and highs will consistently be in the mid to upper teens through the first week of October.
