Edmonton weather: Cooler today, but not as chilly as what’s coming this weekend

A few sprinkles in parts of the Edmonton area early this morning as the cold front approaches.

Slightly heavier rain for areas north and west of the city and we’ll see some showers pushing through northeastern Alberta as the day wears on. Rain and west snow continues in the foothills south of Hinton through the morning.

Here in the city, we’ll get some sunny breaks for this afternoon and temperatures will be about ten degrees cooler than Tuesday.

We hit 23 C in Edmonton yesterday and should get to 12 or 13 C this afternoon.

High pressure takes over for Thursday/Friday...so...lots of sun for the end of the week AND a bit of a warming trend. It’ll be a frosty start to Thursday, but the afternoon high should hit 14 or 15 C and then we’ll take a run at 20 C on Friday.

It’ll probably only get to 18 or 19 C ahead of a big cool down for the Thanksgiving weekend.

Cloudy skies and gusty wind for Saturday/Sunday with temperatures topping out in the 7 to 11 C range Saturday and a high in the 1 to 4 C range Sunday.

A bit of clearing, but still cool for Monday with a high in the 2 to 7 C range.

Precipitation outlook:

Northwestern Alberta gets some snow (possibly a bit of accumulation) Saturday and we’ll see some snow in the mountains as well.

Northeastern Alberta gets a chance of showers late Saturday turning to some wet snow overnight and early Sunday.

In Edmonton and area, it’s a moderate chance of some showers Saturday afternoon and then a low to moderate chance of some wet flurries Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Long range: Temperatures get back to the 10 to 15 C range Tuesday-Friday next week.
