Edmonton weather: Cool today, but another warming trend is coming

We had two cool days coming out of Thanksgiving that gave way to mid-to-upper teen temperatures late last week.

AND...we’ll see the same thing happen this week.

Edmonton had a high of 10 C on Sunday and we’ll be around 10 C again this afternoon.

But, we’ll be right back into teen temperatures for the rest of the week starting Tuesday.

The average high for this time of year is 10 C, so even our cool down isn’t really all that chilly.

Looking beyond the coming weekend, it DOES appear likely that we’ll settle into a pattern with daytime highs more consistently in single digits to close out the month of October.

We had a bit of mixed precipitation north and west of the Edmonton area early this morning and a few flurries near Fort McMurray and Lac La Biche.

But no significant precipitation is on the way. The bigger issue this morning for the Edmonton area is the gusty wind and that should die down by mid-morning or lunchtime.

An area of low pressure will sweep across northern Alberta tonight and that’ll produce some showers and pockets of mixed precipitation across the north.

There’s a slight chance of an overnight shower in the Edmonton area. Again: no significant moisture anticipated.

After tonight, it’s dry until possibly late Sunday.
