Crews putting the final touches on annual indoor holiday light show

An enchanted forest is taking over the Edmonton Expo Centre as crews put the finishing touches on this year’s Glow show.

Over eight years, the indoor holiday light display has grown to 1.5 million lights.

“Sometimes what I have in my head, it’s a little bit more to work out… but we always do it,” said owner Shannon Van Norman in an interview on Friday, ahead of the show’s public opening on Dec. 4. “We have late nights, but we have a wonderful team that has been with us, some of them, since the very start.”

For this year’s theme, crews have built a giant mushroom, a giant fox, and a winterscape, among other forest scenes.

“The show looks absolutely beautiful, but the biggest new thing is we’ve added audio adventure to our show. So each display, people can come up, press a button, and it tells a story,” van Norman explained.

The stars of the narrative are Fox and Bunny.

“We’re really excited to introduce those two characters.”

In addition to the lights, the showcase consists of a local makers market, live entertainment, food and drink, and family activities.
