Few details are available about what police say is a fatal crash near Red Deer on Friday.

Shortly after noon on Friday, police advised motorists to avoid the area of Highway 53 between Range Road 30 and 32 while emergency crews attended to a “serious” crash.

At 4:23 p.m. Mounties advised that the highway was clear and described the crash as fatal, but did not provide any information about how many vehicles were involved or how many people had been killed or injured.

An update is expected.
