One of the biggest acts in rock, who paved the way for many heavy metal bands along their illustrious 30-year career, is coming to Edmonton this fall.

They will begin their eight-city tour in Ottawa on Sept. 17 and will head west to other major markets including Montreal, Winnipeg, Calgary and will wrap their Canadian tour in Vancouver Oct. 1.

Korn released their debut self-titled album on Oct. 11, 1994, and made huge waves with their 1998 record Follow the Leader, which is widely-known for the hit-single Freak on a Leash.

Since forming in 1994, Korn has sold more than 40 million albums worldwide.

The band is considered to be pioneers of nu metal, a subgenre of alternative metal music which blends grunge, rap and heavy metal, which influenced other nu metal heavy hitter bands including Limp Bizkit, Slipknot and Linkin Park.

Special guests on the tour include Grammy-nominated group Gojira and Loath.

Pre-sale tickets will be available at 10 a.m. Tuesday with the general sale beginning Friday.
