$25K worth of tickets issued in east Edmonton overpass crash

A semi driver accused of hitting an Edmonton overpass earlier this week has been issued more than a dozen tickets totalling nearly $25,000.

The driver of a semi-truck that hit an overpass in east Edmonton has been fined and asked to appear in court.

The semi-truck struck the 34 Street overpass on the Sherwood Park Freeway late Monday night.

RCMP issued five tickets that require a court appearance and Edmonton police issued 13 tickets worth nearly $25,000.

The company that owns the semi received nine tickets for more than $13,000.

The driver was also fined for “causing damage to the roadway,” RCMP said. This ticket included a mandatory court summons and a “possible fine that is equivalent to the repair costs for the damaged infrastructure.”

The bridge remained closed as of Wednesday.
