Three people were killed and another was seriously injured in a crash in Lac La Biche County Thursday evening.
Around 7:45 p.m., RCMP received a cell phone notification about the head-on collision between a Ford Escape and a Ford Super Duty, which had been pulling a travel trailer, on Highway 55 between Range Roads 121 and 162.
Two people in the Escape and one person in the Super Duty died at the scene, despite life-saving efforts of first responders.
The jaws of life were used to rescue a male occupant of the Super Duty and he was flown to Edmonton by Stars Air Ambulance.
In a news release Friday, police did not say what caused the crash. They are asking anyone who may have dash cam footage from the area or who witnessed the crash to contact Lac La Biche RCMP.
The Escape’s occupants were identified as Plamondon, Alta., residents.
The female Super Duty occupant was from High Prairie, Alta.
The surviving victim is from Glendon, Alta.
