1 dead after truck crashes into trees, cable box in central Alberta

One person is dead after a single-vehicle crash in central Alberta over the weekend.

Rimbey RCMP was called to the crash at Range Road 33 and Township Road 430 at 5:20 a.m. on Sunday.

Police say the black Chevrolet Avalanche was southbound on Range Road 33 when the driver failed to stop at a t-intersection.

The truck hit a grove of trees and a cable box.

The 57-year-old Rimbey woman behind the wheel was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the circumstances of the crash are still under investigation.

Rimbey is about 150 kilometres southwest of Edmonton.
