Wednesday’s high of 15 C one of the coolest days until next weekend

Warm and sunny Wednesday in Calgary. Jodi Hughes has a look at the five-day forecast from the Sky Watch Weather Centre.

A dominant ridge of high pressure crossing into Western Canada from the Pacific basin continues to strengthen, initiating a pattern of persistent warmth.

Daytime highs in Calgary will range from 15 C to 21 C from Wednesday until at least the start of next weekend.

On Wednesday, there is a chance of some light and scattered rain across the region, mostly west of the QEII corridor, with a 30 per cent chance of light showers in Calgary.

Wind will be light for the next couple of days, with peak sustained wind speeds in Calgary of 15 to 20 km/h Wednesday afternoon.

Conditions will be mild for most of the next week and a half with most days including more sunshine than cloud.

A brief period of mild instability is possible late Friday and early Saturday with narrow bands of rain expected to initiate off the foothills and tracking west to east across southern Alberta.

Calgary might see some precipitation during this time, but any accumulation should be minimal.
