U of L hosts event for Indigenous students going to post-secondary

The University of Lethbridge's Iniskim Future Students Day is meant to break down barriers for Indigenous students going to post-secondary.

Prospective students are getting their first look at the University of Lethbridge.

The university hosted its Iniskim Future Students Day for Indigenous students.

The event is meant to break down barriers for Indigenous students going to post-secondary.

It showcased the supports available as well as the Indigenous community on campus.

Potential students were able to speak with grads and current students about their experiences.

Those running the event feel holding Indigenous open houses like this is important.

“We have a really great Indigenous community that we’ve kind of established here. ... We’ve built that so that we deal with some of the barriers,” said Beth Grier, Indigenous student recruitment officer.

“Homesickness is a big one.”

This is the second time the U of L has hosted its Iniskim Future Students Day.
