A 60-year-old Lethbridge woman faces charges of careless driving and more after allegedly striking three young pedestrians.

Police in the southern Alberta city say the incident occurred Jan. 20 around 7:30 a.m.

At the intersection of 13 Avenue and 23 Street North, a 14-year-old, a seven-year-old and a five-year-old all suffered serious injuries when hit by a vehicle.

They were all taken to hospital, first in Lethbridge, then in Calgary, and have since been released to continue recovering at home.

They were all in a marked crosswalk when the incident occurred.

Police say the driver did stop and remained at the scene.

The driver has been charged with three counts each of careless driving and failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

She’ll appear in court in Lethbridge later this month.
