We are exactly where we should be weather-wise in Calgary today.
Morning clouds will start to clear out in the afternoon which will result in a late day high of 4 C with a mild easterly breeze.
That is the normal high for the city at this time of the year but don’t put the shovel or winter gear away quite yet!

An atmospheric river has made landfall along the West Coast and precipitation from that system will move into Alberta on Thursday morning.
Initially, models showed the wet weather could fall as early as 8 a.m., right during the morning commute, however, looks like a slight shift in the jet stream will delay the heavier snow until a bit later in the morning at around 11 a.m.

Snowfall totals for Calgary and the surrounding area are looking to be about six centimetres, but higher elevations like Banff could see up to 40 centimetres, which is great news for the outdoor winter enthusiasts!

While the wet weather moves in from the south, a cold air mass is also pushing in from the north, so temperatures are expected to drop below seasonal on Thursday and remain so until Sunday where some strong southerly winds will get us back into the seasonal temperature range.
